Josephburg United Church DSC5056

Josephburg United Church DSC5056 - (Church Histories) Historic Churches & Temples
This historic country church located in the village of Josephburg, AB, CA is very much in use today. The building was built in 1901 and has seen numerous upgrades due largely in part of the progressive nature of the congregation that it is. Originally the church was organized by a group of German-speaking Galician Austrians who migrated to Canada in about 1894 and organized the German Reformed Church known as "Friedens Gemeinde" which translates as "Peace Congregation". The congregation voted to join the United Church of Canada in about 1970. A history about this church and its people filled with biographies and a detailed documentation along with hundreds of rare photographs has been released for world-wide publication by Heritage Books Canada and authored by Reuben Bauer.
