King George VI - DSC-2230

King George VI - DSC-2230 - Royal Heritage Collections
King George VI in his Coronation Robes of State.
An official painting, of His Majesty King George VI in his State Robes following his coronation in 1937, is displayed in one of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace, which I had the rare privilege of seeing in late August, 2011. This was an extraordinary opportunity for my wife and myself to personally see these and other royal paintings in the Queen’s Gallery. Being able to view all eleven State Rooms at the palace and to walk in and through the very rooms which the royal family now and of decades past have walked and occupied during some royal and historic occasions. This truly was such an awesome experience. I deeply value those moments and cherish them as a great personal honor. The State Rooms are only used by our present Queen to entertain her royal guests, as prime ministers, foreign kings and queens, presidents, the Pope and other distinguished visitors.
