The Queen Consort

The Queen Consort - Royal Heritage Collections
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, in this lovely painting shows her wearing the Coronation gown and wearing the famous tiara and ruby necklace which has been worn by our present Queen Elizabeth II on so many wonderful occasions. Born into a family as a commoner, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, quickly became the "darling" of the Empire, when she became the queen consort with her husband, King George VI in 1937. Her gracious informality and human touch won the hearts of everyone.
